Ethical Sourcing & Forced Labour Policy

A written policy we publish in full rather than summarise. The commitments are testable, and the supplier undertakings behind them are signed before an order.

This entry is listed before its number is published. It records the standard, the issuing body and the scope we require. Ask us for a copy, or for the number, and we will send what we hold.

01 / Scope

What this document covers.

Saying you do not tolerate forced labour is cheap. What is not cheap is publishing how you check, what you do when you find something, and what the supplier has signed up to. The full policy text is on this page so you can hold us to the wording.

Risk concentrates in a small number of commodities, and in our case the honest version is that we are still building the supplier base. We say which categories carry elevated risk and what we require before we buy from them, rather than claiming a clean record we have not had time to build.

02 / For buyers

What this means for your order.

Plain-language notes on what the document does and does not tell you.

  • Ask which commodities you are buying, and what the forced-labour risk in that origin is; the answer is not always "none".
  • We will tell you if a supplier will not sign the undertaking, which means we will not buy from them.

03 / Verification

How to check it independently.

A certificate number is only useful if you can take it to the source. Here is where to take this one.

  1. 01

Take the number from this page

The number is not published yet. Ask us and we will send the issued copy or the application reference.

  2. 02

    Search the issuing body’s register

The issuing body is Runway Merchants (adopted policy). Search its public register, or call it, using the number and the company or plant name.

  3. 03

Confirm the scope, not just the status

Check that the scope on the register matches the scope printed here. A valid certificate for the wrong activity is not cover for your order.
